Which do you prefer: Hot or Cold?
Hi! I would like to introduce myself, my name is Julia and I am the new intern at Star Events! Living in Florida my whole life, I never had to experience extreme cold for an extended period of time. Hot weather on the other hand was a year round thing. Every year I would be so happy when it was below 70 degrees because I could finally wear my 3 sweaters without overheating and enjoy being outside in the sun. A question I was always asked growing up was “would you rather be hot or cold?” Of course I would always answer cold, but that was not the popular answer with my friends. What makes a person choose one or the other? In light of this blog, I decided to post a poll on my Instagram asking for Floridians only to answer the same question. I concluded the poll with a total of 48 votes after a couple hours, with 48% voting hot and 52% voting cold. I definitely thought that hot would far out vote cold.
Maybe your preferences for hot or cold climates have nothing to do with where you live at all. According to a NYPost article titled: Warm and Cold Weather People Are Completely Different, there are actually differences in people’s personality traits. Research found that people who preferred hot climates and beach vacations described themselves as extroverts, enjoyed music such as hip hop or pop and would prefer a dog over a cat. People who preferred colder weather trips considered themselves more introverted, liked staying indoors and are cat people.
This article found major differences as to how you could determine if someone would prefer hot or cold weather, and it is interesting as to why people who lean more towards being an extrovert would prefer to be on the beach with family and lots of friends and introverts would prefer to explore cold cities with art and museums. This is my first winter living in Chicago so I am really testing my belief that I would rather be cold than hot. If my opinion does change than does that mean I had a change in personality as well? Which do you prefer?
Stay warm,
A Cold Intern
