The Edgewater Chamber of Commerce will host its fifth annual Edgewater 5k Run / 1mi Walk, the only race course that includes Sheridan Road and the lakefront path!

This fundraising event has raised $17,000 to both private and public schools located in the 48th Ward since 2014. The Edgewater 5k is open to the general public, local residents, students and parents alike so register and help give back to your community’s schools and students.

In addition to the 5k Run, this year the Edgewater Chamber added a special Kids’ Race for children ages 3-5 to also have the chance to join in on the fun after the 5k wraps up. Not to be missed, the popular Mascot Race is returning as part of the post race activities.

RACE ROUTE

The race, which begins at 8am, features the streets of Edgewater is geared toward all ages and competition levels! Run or walk, it’ll be an enjoyable experience in the neighborhood! 

The course begins near the St. Ignatius Plaza on the beautiful campus of Loyola University near Kenmore and W Sheridan Rd. From there, the course turns south on Sheridan Road until the entrance to the lakefront path at Ardmore. Runners will turn around on the Lakefront path and return North on Sheridan Rd and finish on the St. Ignatius Plaza.

Jogging strollers and dogs are welcome!

PACKET PICKUP

Registered runners can pick up their registration packets before race day at Orange Shoe Personal Fitness located at 5609 N. Clark Street, Chicago, IL 60660 on the following days and times:

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 13
8:00 AM – 1:00PM

Getting to the Edgewater 5K

PARKING & TRANSIT

We highly encourage taking public transit, carpooling or biking to the event. There will be thousands of participants, volunteers, and spectators around on race morning. Please plan for heavy traffic and allow ample time to check your gear and get into your corral.
